Tallow, Honey, and Herbs: A Skin-Loving Trio

Why these three simple ingredients work so beautifully together
Let’s talk about three of my favourite ingredients for skin care - ones I reach for again and again, both in my own daily rituals and in the products I make for Bright Gather. They’re not trendy, not flashy, but they work. And they’ve been trusted for generations: tallow, honey, and herbs. Tallow – Nature’s Original Moisturizer
There’s something kind of magical about tallow. It’s deeply nourishing, rich in fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), and incredibly compatible with our skin - especially when it comes from grass-fed animals. It doesn’t just sit on top of the skin like some oils or lotions. It soaks in, replenishes, and helps create a natural barrier without clogging.
I personally love it because it feels both old-fashioned and deeply intuitive - like something your great-grandmother would’ve known about and used regularly. I whip it gently, then pair it with herbs to bring in even more healing goodness.

Honey – Liquid Gold for the Skin
Raw honey is more than just a sweet treat. It’s a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture into the skin. It’s also full of enzymes, antioxidants, and gentle antimicrobial properties, making it perfect for soothing, softening, and supporting skin that's irritated or dry.
In my Botanical Tallow Cream, I use just enough to add that soft, dewy touch to give your skin a little extra love.

Herbs – Gentle Powerhouses
Of course, herbs are the heart of everything I make. In this blend, I infuse olive oil with calming, skin-loving plants like chamomile, sage, yarrow, and rosemary - herbs that help with inflammation, and work to repair skin. The infusion takes time (weeks, not days), and I let the plants do their work slowly, just as they’re meant to.
Herbs bring personality to this formula. They give it soul. And they remind us that healing doesn’t always need to be complicated - sometimes it just needs to be kind.

The Blend
When you bring these three together - grass-fed tallow, raw honey, and herbal-infused oil, the result is a cream that’s rich, calming, and deeply restorative. It’s thick without being greasy, simple without being plain, and nourishing without any weird ingredients.
I made this cream for anyone who’s dealing with dryness, sensitivity, or just wants to treat their skin a little more gently. I use it on my face, hands, feet - anywhere that needs a bit of extra care.
You can find it in the shop as Tallow Cream – Botanical Blend, but even if you never buy a thing, I hope this inspires you to trust simple ingredients. The ones our ancestors used. The ones that still work.
